The following is a constructed list of the significant engineering projects I have undertaken over the last four years
During my undergraduate degree, I decided to take part in a collaborative research project between the HCR Laboratory and the Aerospace Engineering Department at Penn State. The research is centered around testing the effect that the sense of touch has on individuals working in high pressure situations.
My work centered around the rapid prototyping and development of a virtual reality-enabled haptic glove within 8 months. I worked with a project team to employ additive manufacturing techniques, mechanical R&D skills, and ideation practices to design and 3D print all parts implemented into our team's VR glove. My work centered around the rapid prototyping and development of a virtual reality-enabled haptic glove within 8 months. I worked with a project team to employ additive manufacturing techniques, mechanical R&D skills, and ideation practices to design and 3D print all parts implemented into our team's VR glove. During this process, I was required to perform a stress analysis in SolidWorks to highlight areas of high-stress concentration. Using this information, fillets were added to adjust the design to decrease the maximum stress experienced in components by up to 10%
The project team was assigned the task of developing software, utilizing FLORIS and Streamlit, that can be operated by engineers at BP to calculate the optimal yaw offsets for each turbine. Additionally, the software predicts power increases associated with the implementation of these yaw offsets based on user-input wind direction and speed. This software was designed to conduct site-specific calculations for all nine of BP’s onshore wind turbine assets. The calculations are tailored to the types of turbines, atmospheric conditions, and turbine layout specific to each site.
As part of my senior capstone project at Pennsylvania State University, I undertook the development of software essential for executing Wake Steering at BP's onshore wind assets. The project team, comprising seven members, include d six individuals from the computer science department, with myself serving as the project manager. During this project, I was given the opportunity to delegate tasks, establish connections with customers and users, and practically implement the leadership strategies developed through my minor in engineering leadership development. From this experience, I have developed the ability to delegate workflow, manage timelines, and unite team members around a common vision.
